MENLO PARK, California – Facebook introduced a new suicide prevention tool that will allow friends to flag posts that they find concerning. Here’s how it works: If a friend posts something unusual or disconcerting, you can report it to Facebook and they will take a look at it.
If they think it indicates distress, Facebook will contact the poster letting them know that someone was concerned about them.
From there, the person will get the option to talk with a friend or a mental health expert at the National Suicide Prevention lifeline.
