Three members of the Menlo Park Legends were named all-stars in the California Collegiate League: pitcher Matthew Blais, third baseman Dylan Cook and shortstop Trevor DeMerritt. The game took place Wednesday night in Compton.

Blais has a team-best 1.67 ERA with a team-leading 45 strikeouts over 37 2/3 innings.

Cook is hitting .278 and leads the team with 16 RBIs.

DeMerritt leads the team in at-bats, runs, hits and stolen bases.

  • On Tuesday night, Menlo Park scored three times in the first inning but dropped a 5-3 decision to the Crawdads at Palo Alto High School. Each team had nine hits. The Legends were hurt by six errors and left 13 runners on base as they fell to 8-24 overall, 7-16 in the CCL.

    Dane VandeGuchte and Jordan Winawer each had two hits for Menlo Park, which got doubles from Wesley Hoskins and Steven Miller. Dakota Hernandez, Cook and Hoskins drove in the Legends’ runs.
